Frequently Asked Questions

What makes your farmers market different from others?

Our market is unique because we welcome both TDA-permitted commercial kitchen producers and home producers operating under the Tennessee Food Freedom Act. Unlike most markets, we believe in supporting all types of local food producers, making it easier for everyone to sell and buy fresh, homemade goods

What is the Tennessee Food Freedom Act?

The Tennessee Food Freedom Act allows individuals to produce and sell certain homemade foods without needing a commercial kitchen or a TDA permit. These producers are still subject to inspections by the Tennessee Department of Health, ensuring safety and quality.

How does the listing process work?

It’s simple! Producers can join our market by paying a flat monthly fee. This fee covers the cost of maintaining our site and advertising. We create a listing for each producer and place it under the correct category, showcasing their name, contact information, and product pictures.

Why don’t you take a commission on sales?

We want to keep prices as low as possible for consumers while making it easier for producers to sell their products. By charging a flat monthly fee instead of a commission, we help keep costs down for everyone involved.

How do I stay updated on new products and producers?

Sign up for our newsletter! We regularly send out updates on new listings, special offers, and events. Follow us on social media as well for the latest news and highlights

Can I give feedback or suggestions for the website?

Absolutely! We welcome any feedback or suggestions to improve our site. Contact us through the form on our website, and let us know how we can better serve you. If you know of a store or venue that accepts Tennessee Food Freedom Act products, please send that information to solastaspices@gmail.com so that information can be added to the site!

How do I know the food is safe to eat?

All our producers, whether they operate from a commercial kitchen or their home, are subject to oversight. TDA-permitted producers follow strict guidelines, and are subject to inspection by the Tennessee Department Of Agriculture. Producers who are producing under the Tennessee Food Freedom Act are subject to inspection by the Tennessee Department of Health. We are committed to listing only reputable and responsible producers.

How can I support local producers?

Browse through our listings, contact the producers directly, and purchase their products. By doing so, you’re supporting local businesses and helping to sustain our community’s economy. Share our website with friends and family to spread the word!

I’m a producer. How do I join the market?

We’d love to have you! Simply reach out to us through the contact form on our site, and we’ll guide you through the sign-up process. Once you’ve paid the monthly fee, we’ll set up your listing page and help you get started. Just email photos of products, website information if applicable, and contact infomation to solastaspices@gmail.com

What if I have a problem with a product I purchased?

While we aim to list only reliable producers, we understand that issues can arise. Please contact the producer directly with any concerns. Since we don’t handle the sales transactions, it’s best to resolve any problems directly with the producer.
